It is our pleasure to
indicate that after the release of Code of Practice for HDD recently, different
stakeholders have urged IndSTT to bring out the code of practice for Cured in
Place Pipelines Suiting Indian Conditions as a substantial numbers of projects
requiring such technique are expected to be executed under the JnNURM.
Cured in Place Pipeline
Technique, as may be the general information, is quite useful technique which
can alleviate expensive open cut pipeline rehabilitation process. Procurement
practices, however, are dogged with several uncertainties due to absence of
specifications & standards leading to difficulties during various project stages
like tendering, award, execution, and during the defect liability periods.
Forced with these difficulties, the stakeholders have approached IndSTT to
develop such standards.
Based on the requirement
IndSTT has compiled a set of special conditions which are going to be the base
document for the proposed code of practice. It has been circulated for the
evaluation and comments from the interested stakeholders recently.
The expected benefit of
this process would be the development of a transparent procurement system
leading to a healthy technology application and development benefiting all the
stakeholders. With the substantial workload expected to be generated out of this
process, it assumes significance.
Interested persons may communicate to IndSTT Secretariat at
indstt@indstt.org to receive a copy of this document.
