Mr.
Chander Verma is a graduate Civil Engineer who completed
his Masters degree in Construction Management from George
Washington University, USA. He has been holding very
responsible positions for the last about 25 years in the
construction industry.
He started his career as Director, Continental
Construction Ltd., New Delhi on construction of 1910 MLD
Bombay Water Supply Project. Thereafter, he was associated
with construction of the highest dam (85 meter high rock
fill dam) in Libya. He then opened up and headed
Continental Construction Ltd.’s London office handling
banking, insurance, re-sourcing of materials, equipment
and spare parts for overseas units of the company from the
international markets and prospecting for works abroad.
He has been the Managing Director since April 1989 of
Continental Construction Ltd., a premier heavy
infrastructure construction organization which is
executing many multifarious types of civil engineering
projects in India and abroad.
His company, has been the pioneer company in exporting
civil construction know-how from India to the Middle East
and North Africa. In recognition of their better success
in securing contracts overseas and executing the same on
schedule, Continental construction Limited received ‘All
India Top Exporter’s Award’ for five years continuously.
This was achieved by the company because of their
qualities of leadership, foresightedness, adopting to the
latest technologies, mechanization and dynamism.
Mr. Verma is Fellow of Institution of Engineers, India;
Institutional of Surveyors, India; Institutional of
Valuers, India and Indian Council of Arbitration. He is
Life Member of the International Centre for Alternative
Dispute Resolution and is on the Board of Governors of
National Institute of Construction Management & Research,
Bombay and New Delhi. He is also on the Working Committee
of Overseas Construction Council of India and Member of
Bureau of Indian Standards (RVD 19 on river valley
projects) and Indian Society for Construction Law.
As present, he is also a Member of the Executive Committee
of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and
Industry (FICCI).
He is also the Vice Chairman of the Construction Industry Development Council,
President International Council of Consultants apart from
serving on the Editorial Board to “Civil
Engineering & Construction Review”.
Seeking to further utilize his knowledge and talents, Mr.
Chander Verma, ventured in the fields of consultancy some
years back which deal with construction management, risk
assessment and mitigation and giving training to
construction personnel.
He is a highly qualified Civil Engineer with a business
background having vast experience in financial management
and control, risk management, engineering, tendering,
administration, procurement, management and execution of
various types/sizes of construction projects worldwide. He
is widely traveled all over the world and has requisite
experience in using of all types of heavy construction
plants and equipment and in overall construction
management.
